In brief

Santos Bonacci calls astrology and astrotheology “the holy science”: the Sun at the centre of every scripture and myth, read through three cycles — the day, the year and the great year of precession. Much of his history holds: Psalm 84:11 does call God “a sun and shield”, Bruno was burned in Rome in 1600, and Libra is older than the Greeks. His astronomy needs correcting: the great year is about 25,772 years, turned by the Sun and Moon pulling on the Earth's bulge, and Sirius is far too distant, and moving far too fast, to be our partner star.

25,772 years for one cycle of precession, from the measured rate of 50.288″ a year One degree in 71.6 years: his “72 years” is right; his 24,000 is 7% short.
199 million years a Sun–Sirius orbit would take at 8.6 light years, by Kepler's third law A 25,772-year orbit would need about 242 million Suns of mass.
17.6 km/s Sirius's speed relative to the Sun — against an escape speed of about 0.12 km/s at its distance It is passing by, not orbiting.
~130° between Sirius and the way Gaia measured the Sun being pulled — within 3.5° of the galaxy's centre

The Sun at the centre of scripture and myth

The holy science

Santos Bonacci opens with a big claim, and a generous one: “We've lost the signs.” The characters of every myth, nursery rhyme and gospel, he teaches, are the same few figures — the Sun, the Moon and the five planets, “the seven orbs in the sky that our eyes can see”. Abraham and Sarah, King Arthur and Guinevere: “sun and the moon”. The hero is the Sun, with his three or four close companions — Mars, Jupiter and Saturn — around him. Astrology and astrotheology together make what he calls the holy science, a name he takes from Sri Yukteswar's book of 1894 and from the Roman astrologer Firmicus Maternus, who called it, he says, “a sacred and pure science, the holiest science”.
