Venus's geometric pattern: a five-petalled rose of rose-pink loops around the Earth on a night-blue sky

In brief

Every 584 days Venus passes between the Earth and the Sun, and five of those meetings take almost exactly eight years — joined in order, they draw a pentagram around the zodiac. On 24 October 2026 the October point of that star falls at 0°45′ Scorpio: the last Venus star point in Scorpio until 2181. We computed the sky behind Gary P. Caton's interview, checked the history and the myth, and gathered what research says about Venus's domain of love, values and belonging.

Last until 2181 Venus meets the Sun at 0°45′ Scorpio on 24 October 2026 No Venus star point falls in Scorpio again for 155 years.
8 years for five Venus cycles — the five points of the pentagram 5 × 583.92 days = 2,919.6 days, 2.4 days short of eight years.

Five meetings with the Sun, eight years

The five-petalled rose

Venus overtakes the Earth every 583.92 days — its synodic cycle, evening star to morning star and back. Five of those cycles take 2,919.6 days, only 2.4 days short of eight years, because 13 Venus orbits almost exactly match 8 of ours: a near-resonance, not a lock. Plot Venus around the Earth for eight years and it draws five loops; join the five places it meets the Sun, in time order, and a pentagram appears. Draw a line between the two planets every few days and a five-petalled rose blooms — the backdrop of this summary, computed from our own ephemeris.
