Venus retrograde and the stock market

Robert Weinstein's study of twenty Venus retrogrades, retested on 32 years of S&P 500 closes — two striking bottoms, a pattern near record highs, the rare sky of autumn 2026, and what chance alone would do.

Bar chart of the S&P 500's change during each Venus retrograde from 1994 to 2026

In brief

Every 19 months Venus turns retrograde for about six weeks, and the financial astrologer Robert Weinstein found that when the S&P 500 sat at a record high, 9 of 10 of those retrogrades brought a fall. We retested his twenty retrogrades on the index's daily closes. Taken together they look like any other six weeks — but the ones that began near a record did end lower far more often than chance, two great bear-market bottoms fell within three days of Venus turning, and autumn 2026 brings a sky not seen since 1904.

6 of 7 Venus retrogrades that began within 3% of a record ended lower Any six weeks starting that close to a record: 35%.
≤ 3 days between Venus turning retrograde and the closing lows of the 2002 and 2009 bear markets Closing lows 9 October 2002 and 9 March 2009; Venus turned on 10 October and 6 March (the 2009 intraday low).
5 of 20 retrogrades since 1994 in which the S&P fell 5% or more after Venus turned Any six weeks: 23% — the same.

Venus rules money — so test it on money

The claim: twenty retrogrades

Every 584 days — about 19 months, not 18 — Venus slows, stops and runs backwards through the zodiac for six weeks as she passes between the Earth and the Sun. Astrologers give her love, beauty, value and money, so when she turns back, relationships and markets are said to wobble. Because the retrograde repeats so regularly, it can be tested, which is what the financial astrologer Robert Weinstein (“Crypto Damus”) did on World Astrology Report: he looked at the last twenty Venus retrogrades and what the S&P 500 did in each.
